Story Idea : "The Good Future" (Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius)

What About The Other Main JN Characters?

Jane's profile

This story idea primarily focuses on the concept of "what if Jimmy Neutron married Betty Quinlan once they grew up, instead of Cindy Vortex as the show implies?"

Jimmy gradually becomes closer to Betty despite show events on her end of things, and the two develop a friendship and later romance that not even Cindy can destroy. She tries, but fails miserably.

Jimmy never abandons his childhood dream of becoming a scientist officially as an adult, and becomes the first human to explore the deeper unknown parts of space in person, rather than solely through technology.

He's also not alone in his travels. He brings his new wife Betty, and the three space bandits from the show, Zix, Travoltron, and Tee, along as hired help with the space ship maintenance. They also provide valuable priceless information regarding space travel.

Then, a time skip 12 years later. Jane Curie Neutron, the 10 years old only child of the young couple has only known life in outer space. She's of course visited family and friends back on Earth, but to travel and explore the planet much? She barely knows it from her history books and her parents' stories.

Jane is close to all 3 space bandits, seeing them as uncles in that found family way. All of them are rather overprotective of her, so she has not explored that much herself yet.

She has a childhood dream of becoming a grand explorer much like her father is, but solely for the sake of enjoying the journey and experiences. Jane's not as interested in science or having it as a future career. She enjoys spending time with her dad, watching him create new inventions and improve existing ones, but it's not really something she personally favors herself. She's showing support for her dad and family, and mainly just sees it as another opportunity to spend time with him and learn from him.

Speaking of, Jimmy and Betty both take every chance they get to spend time with their daughter, to include Jane with what they do for the day, pay attention to her own interests, and try their best not to push their own interests onto her. But rather show them as positive experiences to see if she naturally becomes interested in them on her own. This is in fact how Jane develops her explorer dream.

Betty's own interests are not ignored either. She performs plays (akin to the school plays) in the show for the alien cultures they attempt to befriend with the help of their space crew members. (multiple outside of the space bandits) Betty also still enjoys magic regardless of Jimmy's feelings on the topic, which he now shows respect for said interest, as part of his respect for Betty. She also helps around the family's space ship, with maintenance taught to her by Jimmy and others as well.

Regardless of any schedules or deadlines among them, the family always takes weekends off (which they base upon whatever calendars their alien allys use, not Earth's), in order to spend quality time together, to avoid becoming distant from each other.
