This story idea explores the concept of "What If?" - the Trio (Jimmy, Carl, & Sheen) had a tomboy female friend who appears feminine to counter Cindy Vortex being their enemy for a majority of the series until mid season 2 - the majority of season 3.
The character I've made for this is April Williams, my oldest still active Original Character.
April has been best friends with Jimmy since they were very young, due to their fathers being close friends since high school. April's family moves into the neighborhood shortly after the First Jimmy Neutron movie, early in season 1 of the cartoon.
She retains a good relationship with Jimmy all throughout, only hitting a few mild bumps as most true friends tend to do. She quickly befriends Carl Wheezer, with Sheen being the last to make a close friendship, though she is strained to call him a best friend until mid season 3.
She makes fast enemies with Cindy Vortex as well, who sees her as potential "competition", even though April shares / harbors no romantic interest in any of the three boys. She dates outside of the Core group only AFTER they begin high school. April's main interests are family, friendships, and being a young child, enjoying the time she has as a kid. She won't rush into a romance anytime before high school. She does have the occasional crush, but never acts on them until then.
April helps balance out the glaring cynicism throughout the series, bringing it back to the more toned down attitude the first movie has. She helps Carl with keeping things lighthearted in the background if nothing else, and is your stereotypical tomboy, but is also gentle and kindhearted, to further counter Cindy's role in the show.
For Libby Folfax, the two remain mostly neutral, but Libby does frequently join Cindy in the usual teasing for hanging out with a bunch of boys, and similar matters. Later seasons watch Libby become nicer to April, but beyond that the two only really interact when needbe. They grow to respect each other mutually by League of Villians though.
Cindy Vortex initially hates April due to her association with Jimmy. Sees her as a problem that needs removed from the group. Late season two, and season three see Cindy mellow out with April a bit, but the two still don't get along. This mainly happens due to Cindy trying to be better around Jimmy, but the fighting keeps the two girls as enemies. April is over protective of her friends, especially her oldest friendship with Jimmy.
April encourages Jimmy's crush on Betty Quinlan, but makes more efforts to befriend the girl herself. The two get along fantastic from the start, this all furthering Cindy's hatred of both girls. April ignores Cindy and tries to help Jimmy and Betty get to know each other better, beyond just the crush / him being fascinated by Betty's beauty.
April becomes close friends with Betty by the end of the show, and is making slow progress with Jimmy and Betty becoming a couple, but they are by no means there yet.
